“Profilo linguistico del racconto televisivo”

This article discusses the mimesis of Italian spoken language in fictional television. It first provides an overview on the evolution of various linguistic strategies adopted by the national broadcasting company RAI over the years. This interest is justified by the universally accepted fact that RAI TV was one of the main contributors to the ongoing Italianization and linguistic unification of the nation. The article then introduces television narration, because it is through this genre, often unjustly underestimated, that it is possible to evaluate the mimesis of spoken Italian on TV. For this reason the aim of this article is to find examples of mimesis of spoken language which are as close as possible to contemporary linguistic reality, in order to analyse how the written page becomes oral. The focus is on exploring exempla of cues taken from screenplay and corresponding to three series belonging to the ‘family fiction’ genre, but dating from different periods.
