I percorsi del Romanzo attraverso la Geografia Umanistica. Spazio, esperienza, percezione e conoscenza nelle eventualità letterarie AI-designed

Articolo
Data di Pubblicazione:
2023
Abstract:
This study critically explores a fundamental question: can an Artificial Intelligence (AI) write a novel? And can such a product achieve the status of a work of art? Another question underlying this study, which will help understand some peculiar traits of literary disciplines, is related to the relationship with human experiential loci: can the geostatic perception of an experience be closely linked to the formation of memory, and thus establish the categorization of an experience? To this end, the Novel will be studied as a supra-organic creature, a macro-concept read through its primordial cognitive stages, thus defining its very close connection with Humanistic Geography. This branch of geographical disciplines studies the connection between the description of geographical space and the representation of human experience in its literary expressions. To avoid any speciousness, statistical evidence will be presented to demonstrate that human products possess unique characteristics regarding aesthetic modus operandi, instances that an AI can only superficially replicate. Throughout this article, this productive superficiality will be carefully studied, defining a canon of authorship, seeking to highlight the aesthetic complexity of the human Novel and the boundaries
within which it is irreproducible artificially.
