The biography of Ilya Selvinsky is full of blank spaces; articles about him, as well as chapters in textbooks and in encyclopaedias are full of mistakes and mysteries. The article describes how the autobiographies by Ilya Selvinsky influenced the image of the poet and all the biographies written by other authors and provoked a number of mistakes and mystifications.
