abstract:
The volume offer an analysis and critique of the main European integration grand theories and develops a federalist framework theory.
Even in contemporary literature federalism is the only grand theory which is considered referring to writings of the fifties. However just as neo-functionalism or intergovernmenalism, federalism underwent a deep theoretical revision, trying to exploit some useful insights from other theories. The volume uses these developments to summarise a framework theory without any teleological purpose, better suited than other existing theories to explain the agenda and the timing of European integration.
