abstract:
The author analyzes some of the recent legislative measures about fixed-term contract, in order to represent the metamorphosis of its economic and social function. The abrogation of the objective reason for the first twelvemonths- maximum-period of employment and the deregulative competence of collective agreements can reduce the uncertainty regarding the recruitment. The liberalization of fix-term contract is balanced by legislative measures aimed to prevent abuse arising from the use of successive fixedterm employment contracts or relationships and by the reliance on social partners in order to identify quantitative limits. In the outcome of the reasoning the fixed-term contract turns out to be not only an instrument of labour market policy, but also a vehicle to promote labour supply-demand matching processes.
