In Italy, from North to South, images, churches and shrines dedicated
to Beata Vergine del Carmelo are numerically higher (Pesce 2012).
The cult is very strong. It highlights the great popular participation and represents
an example of popular religious tradition and innovation.
The paper intends to examine the festival of the Madonna del Carmine of
Trastevere in Roma, also known as Madonna de 'noantri, with an ethnography of the
festival using the anthropology of emotions methodology (Pussetti 2005; Tortolici
1998).
The goal is to bring out whether the cultural changes in different years, with
interviews to confratelli of the Venerabile Arcionfraternita SS.mo Sacramento and
Maria del Carmine SS.ma of Trastevere, and how they influenced the life in modern
society.
