Il colore dell'abito del Buddha

This contribution investigates the symbolic meaning of the orange robe worn by Buddhist monks, starting from canonical sources and historical traditions. The analysis highlights how the colour, associated with fire, renunciation and purity, becomes a tangible sign of inner transformation and ascetic life. Through textual and historical-religious references, the essay highlights the identity-forming function of the robe in the construction of the monastic community and in the transmission of tradition.
