Orizzonti e confini della Digital religion. Aspetti morfologici e funzionali dei riti online

This essay addresses the topic of digital religion through a historical-religious analysis of ritual transformations in the online space. After outlining the theoretical and methodological developments of Digital Religion Studies, the essay investigates the relationship between the morphology and function of digital religious rituals, focusing on two exemplary cases: prayer and initiation. The contribution discusses whether sacred action – the foundation of ritual – retains the same effectiveness when transferred to virtual environments, applying interpretative models from cognitive science and ritual theory
