I territori delle comunità d’interesse nell’era della comunicazione globale

Chapter
Publication Date:
2009
abstract:
The development of the global communication allows people to get together frequently and to exchange information and resources, even though they live far away from each other. The aim of this essay is to highlight the reason for the increasing importance of the common interest groups as far as the geographical research is concerned. Especially on the Internet, these social networks create gathering areas - virtual spaces that are territorial and, because of this, they are interesting from a geographical point of view.
It results in the opportunity of the creation of countless branches of geography, such as the geography of wine, games, coins, music, sports, cats or dogs. These kinds of geography study the localization and the links to their own territories of the communities devoted to these topics.
