abstract:
The forms through which the divine inhabits, traverses, and transforms places, communities, and memories are manifold. God is not a stable category, nor one that can be defined once and for all, but rather a mobile, fragile, and relational presence, manifesting itself in sacred space, ritual, popular devotion, the museum, the city, the islands, and the margins of the Mediterranean. The latter emerges as a privileged site of contaminations and encounters, where the sacred does not coincide with a single form, but is continually redefined through practices, conflicts, and relationships.
