Study Program And Objectives

Objectives

The Master’s Degree Programme in Economics is designed to provide graduates with an interdisciplinary education combining economic, business, legal, and mathematical-statistical knowledge. Graduates will acquire the ability to perform economic analyses using the theoretical models and methodologies of the field; to understand and address economic and business issues while considering their relevant legal implications; to apply quantitative methods for the analysis of economic phenomena and business management models and tools; and to interpret the elements of the economic system from both historical and evolutionary perspectives. The Programme is a two-year course of study corresponding to 120 ECTS credits. It offers several curricula, enabling graduates to develop specialised competences across a range of disciplinary areas. In the field of economics, the Programme provides students with advanced knowledge of economic theory and the applied skills required to perform economic analyses from both historical and contemporary perspectives, and to examine economic development dynamics, the relationship between economics and sustainability, and growth processes in globalised contexts. Graduates will acquire the ability to analyse economic phenomena using quantitative models, contribute to decision-making processes related to economic growth and development policies, and assess the impact of economic decisions and policies on production systems and markets, including their sustainability implications. Such knowledge and skills will allow graduates to work in public and private organisations, performing economic analyses and contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of economic policies and their impacts. In the field of business studies, the Programme aims to provide students with advanced knowledge, tools, and methods related to strategy, marketing, management accounting and control systems, and organisational issues, preparing professionals able to manage and control private enterprises, conduct market analyses using established models, and address the economic, managerial, and financial aspects of business organisations. Students will acquire the ability to understand the principles and methodologies underlying strategy and governance policies; to use the main tools of managerial planning and financial management; and to apply the knowledge and analytical methods required to assess markets through established models and approaches. In the legal field, the Programme equips graduates with the knowledge necessary to work in business organisations, including digitalised ones, applying the principles and rules governing corporate activities, the rights and responsibilities of corporate bodies and governance systems, and the legal frameworks regulating the exchange of goods and services. The Programme also provides graduates with in-depth knowledge of taxation, allowing them to analyse the legal and tax implications of corporate activities and to undertake consultancy roles and independent professional activities in an informed and responsible manner. With reference to the mathematical and statistical area, students will develop the knowledge and skills required to apply quantitative analysis models for the study of economic systems, conduct statistical investigations, and use indicators and data management tools for handling different types of data, supporting decision-making in public, private, and non-profit organisations. Finally, the Programme offers a selection of elective courses enabling students to broaden and deepen their knowledge and skills in further disciplinary areas.
