Abstract:
This chaper analyse the complex interaction and relationship between international and domestic politics in Kant and Hamilton theories.
In Perpetual Peace 1st definitive article Kant suggests that only certain domestic regimes can consider specific international policies (only republics, or liberal-democratic regimes, can accept to devolve sovereignty to supranational institutions aimed at ensuring peace). At the same time both Kant and Hamilton notices that the international context heavily influence the domestic regimes of the various states according to their position in the international system. The interaction is bi-directional as shown in the paper.
