The author investigates the legal issues raised by the Israeli military operation "Protective Edge" in the Gaza Strip under Hamas control. In particular, the contribution deals with the legal nature of the conflict under international humanitarian law, the serious violations of international rules perpetrated by the belligerents and the possibility of invoking the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court to ascertain the responsibility of the authors of these crimes.
