Abstract:
A person's mobility can be examined to learn vital details about their health.Non-contact technology can be used for this investigation with the aim of ensuring freedom of movement of the subject and realistic analysis of movement. Automotive mmWaves radars, while made for different uses, are a powerful low-cost technology for detecting human movement without physical contact, which can introduce fascinating implications as an aid to health monitoring at home or at work. This paper shows how to process the data recorded by commercial radars to extract simple spatio-temporal parameters of people's walking. The processing algorithms provides the cadence, step length and step duration with a good approximation of the true gait parameters.
