Dr. Francesco De Pascale is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Geography at the Department of Human and Social Sciences (DiSUS) at eCampus University. He obtained his PhD in Human Geography from the University of Calabria in 2015 and was a research fellow at CNR-IRPI and the University of Teramo. He has also collaborated with the Chair of Geography at the University of Palermo as a subject expert and a member of the Examination Committees. He is the Editor in-Chief of the book series "Geographies of the Anthropocene" (Il Sileno Edizioni) and an Associate Editor for the journal "Geosciences" (AIMS) in the "Geography & Risk" section.
Author of over one hundred scientific publications, he received the "Costantino Caldo" Award (2024) for his monograph "Geographies of Risk and Vulnerability: Theoretical Approaches and Educational Experiences Compared" (Pontecorboli, 2022). He obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor in Geography (Sector 11/B1 - Geography) for the period 2023-2025 (ASN).
He contributed to the European project INDECIS, focusing on the impact of climate change on tourism in Calabria, and to the bilateral CNR-University of Malta project, helping create a Social Vulnerability Index for coastal risk management. His research interests include GIS and participatory mapping, areas in which he co-produced a map on quarantine testimonies in Italy during the Covid-19 pandemic, along with other scholars. On commission from the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento, he also created a thematic map dedicated to the places of memory related to the Risorgimento process.
His research combines theoretical approaches with practical experiences, focusing on risk geography, geoethics, cultural heritage education, and geography teaching.

Within the field of disaster studies, he investigates community resilience, social vulnerability, and risk perception related to extreme natural events and climate change, focusing his research so far on the territorial ecosystems of Calabria, the Maltese Islands, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
