Study Program And Objectives

Objectives

Specific educational objectives

The three-year degree programme in Communication Sciences aims to provide a solid theoretical foundation for dealing with the socio-cultural, political, economic, legal, technological and media aspects of communication processes in today's world. The programme aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of communication culture, methodologies, techniques and media languages, with a particular focus on new digital media, in a global context characterised by constant technological advances and the pervasive presence of media in everyday life. It also prepares students for careers in communication fields that require skills in analysing, designing and managing communication processes in the media, public administration, cultural industries, business and service sectors.
The programme is designed to promote the following objectives:
1. Acquisition of basic communication skills through disciplines that interpret communication processes from sociological, socio-political, philosophical, legal and economic perspectives.
2. The ability to navigate the legal, organisational and economic innovations that result from the development and diffusion of communicative phenomena.
3. Development of methodological skills and techniques for evaluating and intervening in communication processes, including computer and mass media disciplines, with an emphasis on audiovisual communication techniques and languages.
4. To develop linguistic skills for analysing, managing and producing texts, with particular emphasis on the effective use of the Italian language.
5. Acquisition of knowledge and skills in two foreign languages (English and a second language) to facilitate the exchange of written and oral information in specific professional fields.

Programme format
The programme covers three years.
The first year includes disciplines such as sociology, media studies, semiotics, computer science and organisational studies.
The second year introduces legal and business disciplines.
The third year emphasises multidisciplinarity, incorporating elements of law, economics, social sciences and philosophy. This year also includes practical components such as internships, language workshops to improve Italian, writing workshops and the introduction of a second foreign language.

With regard to the possible study path variants, there are three different curricula designed to provide specialised theoretical training for different professional careers in the field of communication:

1. Curriculum of Institutional and Corporate Communication.
2. Digital Marketing Curriculum.
3. Digital Entertainment and Gaming curriculum.

The coursework in the first year is common to all three curricula. Variations are introduced in the second year with appropriate differentiation between the curricula. Each curriculum includes two specific courses in the second year that are specific to that curriculum and the same applies to the third year.
Futhermore, students have access to a wide range of electives that allow them to explore legal, business and social/philosophical profiles based on their individual interests and preferences.
