Study Program And Objectives
Objectives
The programme develops the theoretical and applied study of different human linguistic and cultural systems, with the common aim of all individual study pathways to: provide students with a solid foundation in linguistics, philology, and literary studies; facilitate the understanding and contextualisation of human cultural phenomena from geo-historical, social, and anthropological perspectives, while paying attention to their multiscalar complexity; develop skills corresponding to levels B2/C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (depending on the language options selected) in the active and passive use, both written and oral, of at least two languages (including at least one European language), as well as full proficiency in Italian; encourage independent exploration and deeper understanding of human identities and diversities through an interdisciplinary approach; and foster the development of personal skills aimed at enhancing intercultural exchange and contributing to the formulation and achievement of common and shared objectives across different fields of human activity.
The final two educational objectives are further developed through a range of methodological approaches and curricular options, among which students can choose: pedagogical and educational, computational and technological, communicative and intercultural (with further specialisations in anthropological-social and production-commercial fields), and translation and publishing. Depending on the specific curricular option selected, at the end of the programme students will have acquired specialised skills in:
- designing projects and resources for language, literature, and culture teaching in non-formal educational contexts;
- analysing, preserving, and processing linguistic (meta)data, including through automated methods and digital environments;
- intercultural mediation and dialogue in contexts of conflict, reception, or community empowerment;
- designing and managing communication practices and systems for companies, organisations, and institutions operating in multilingual and multicultural contexts or pursuing multilingual and multicultural objectives;
- translating, revising, promoting, and producing texts in and into Italian and the two other languages studied. The programme is organised into three academic years, leading to the achievement of 180 ECTS credits.
A course dedicated to basic computer skills, a range of workshops tailored to the different methodological approaches associated with each curricular option, and the final examination complete the programme and enable students to achieve the educational objectives described above. Learning outcomes are assessed for summative purposes through written and/or oral examinations. Language learning outcomes for the selected languages are assessed through examinations that require both written and oral tests.
